Story triggered.
Wayyy back before I was a paratrooper my buddy wingnut and I went fishing.
He tossed the net off the bow of my jon boat, lost his balance, and decided to just jump in.
It was funny as hell the water was only 2 feet deep.
He was expecting ten and it was funny as hell so from the on every time we jumped Id ask him if he'd checked the water's depth.
Wingnut was killed in Afghanistan on the 4th of July.
I miss that guy.

Since about February 9th or so I've dug way down into another RABBIT HOLE.
It's what I do.
I have one question for Pete Butthugger.
Why aren't you at the detector testing it?

There is a detector that missed the fact that a truck on a rail car was locked up and being dragged for miles. All four wheels not rolling...ok?
That truck went over a detector that was supposed to radio the train opperator to warn of the truck and axles were damn near on fire. Stop now!
They get hot.

If I were Pete I'd be standing on the detector that failed.
Was it hacked or what?
Radio interference is a thing?
What the hell is going on around here Pete?
Pete: " I'm taking a little personal time" (again)

I've done everything but call steamer.
He maintains railroad electronics and radio equipment.
Probably can't tell me anything because of an NDA.

Thought it was $150.
Last time I bought this item it was $99.
Today it's $169.95.
1677242103960702571426740626111.jpg

Sigh. That's why i raised my rates.
Example: A removal job is going to start at $500. Was $350. A removal is where I cut open a wall and remove the bees from a building.
So far no complaints.
Bees are good to me.
They've given me the freedom to buy new decoys and gas to chase ducks. Paid for this puppy with money I got from selling honey.
16772423111341507348010374393996.jpg

Investing back into the bees is a no Brainer.

This ain't us but we've done removals similar in size to this one. The job is also called a "cutout" because the beekeeper cuts out the bee colony and parts of the building too. Typically the building's owner pays another contractor to repair the damages. That is customary.
A honeybee removal can end up being very costly.
Just spraying them is even worse...you kill the bees then get ants and roaches...honey attracts pests.
Its important to get this type of job done right or other bees move in

It's that time where we're all depressed. The snow geese ain't playing nice and it's time to do "other things".
I'm lucky in that my other hobby picks up when the shooting is over. That's why I share about all my girlfriends. It's not rocket science but keeps me connected to what the weather is doing and stuff like that.
It's fun and rewarding $$$ along with a certain amount of stress. I'm selling two gallons today. :scooter:
Asian ladies like my honey.

It's a large investment but once you're fully invested your bees pay for themselves AND provide you some coins to buy shells, food, and gas...maybe a retriever too if you're good.

Here's what happens. You take money your WIFE makes and put it into your "hobby bee conglomerate" to make it "look" like you're actually contributing to the household (or admittedly just your selfish needs) and the bee "business" maybe breaks even but you can pretend you're actually making money to fund your selfish needs.

It would be way easier to skip all the drama and just take her money and spend it selfishly. The only problem is you'd have to admit the time on your hands then should be filled with a job instead of a pretend job that generates income.

You know who you are.

This time trying marinated in cholula hot sauce.
That hot sauce was a gift so I had to try it and it's damn good.

Out of all the little tasks a beekeeper does ...this is what I hate the most.

Painting them.

It was $70 or a gallon of honey for this gallon of paint.
Jebus that's high.

Went outside to check my chickens.
Heard this big ruckus so I looked.
Two blocks away this group was getting dropped off.
Basically 5 minutes of hollering bye where you could hear it all from way the hell over there.
Saturday night is over go to bed.

Remember going out to a bar with a band and cover charge? You'd get home and be yelling all night because...old al.

I could sure go for some Waffle House right now. Guessing I’ll just sip on coffee and watch the Pursuit channel hoping Higdon Outdoors airs instead of Jimmy Houston. Easy like Sunday morning!

Summer here is like that at times. You wish for rain, get a shower, then the sun and 100% humidity.

Did you know that Blytheville, Arkansas has a really nice ball field? Completely dead every time I go by.
It's perfectly manicured.
I wonder...

Just yesterday we were trying to remember the last time we had a roll of life savers.
They're packaged different now.
I suppose you might find a vending machine or something.
Damn that hand says don't fuck with me.

Amazon sells Reeds and Life Saver candies.
The wife likes reeds.

We were reminiscing our childhoods.
When we were kids Eisner Park was the place to be.
Huber's Tavern on Church Street is still there but....
Until about 1985 or so old man Huber kept a little candy store at the front. He loved kids and that's why.
On Halloween he'd pass out candy bars.
I had no clue who he was.
He played football for Illinois and was the center for the team that won the rose bowl.
My PE Teacher was the quarterback. Tom Stewart.

My wife and I both bought candy from Mr Huber.
