Now that's livin'.

Well well well I'm gonna have a special guest on my little hunt tomorrow. My 10 yr old daughter Maggie asked to go. She's never been interested. She'll join Sam and I. Momma's having a fit cause they're both missing school. They're both 4.0 students for freaking crying out loud. What's one day?! And tomorrow's education will be much more valuable than anything she'll learn in school.

Is she the one that wanted to draw you some pictures of the hunt?

That's why you should homeschool. So you can take your kids hunting when ever they want as long as it doesn't mess up to much school work.

good memory JR. No I unfortunately haven't had her out yet. She'll be next. She's my 7 yr old. So that hunt will have to be especially easy.

Good deal, I still vote to get her a camera too. Then you'll have a professional photographer on the hunt.

When my daughter was younger she would go but, she doesn't like waterfowling anymore. She'll deer, elk or turkey hunt with me but, she's in California now.

Well we hunted a new spot that I've never hunted. Early season the ponds are dry. Have had to wait for the rains. The ponds are now full and beautiful. Although through the grapevine I've heard they're being over hunted. Anyhow in the dark I wasn't sure where to set up. Chose a spot (later found out it was the wrong spot) near what I thought in the dark was the center of the pond. Negative. It was near the end. The pond was fuller than I had thought. At first light the other far end of the pond loaded up with about 15-20 ducks. Spoonies, teal and a few mallards. Then two spoonies came into out decoys. Sam and I each dumped em, blowing out all the other birds at the far end. That was it for the rest of the day.

But I will say it was one of my most enjoyable hunts of the season. Having Maggie there was a kick in the pants. She cracked us up all morning with her girlie antics. And she laid it on thick for us.

Said she wants to learn to shoot better and maybe hunt alittle next season. She was also excited to see Charlie in action. She's watched him train tons of times before, but never the real deal.

The highlight of the day was when Maggie was playing with the jerk cord, two kids had walked up near the pond, they couldn't see the blocks but were putting a sneak on the ripples on the water from behind the tules. Once I noticed the boys, I told her to keep it up. They finally realized they were busted when she started giggling
