Back in October, my girlfriend burnt a headlight out on her car. I got her a set of the Sylvania Silverstars ($40 at O'Reilly's) because they do help a lot over stock bulbs. Around the same time, I picked myself up a set for the truck too (figured she isn't going to be the only one with good headlights ).
Fast forward not even 4 months, and the day before new years one of them burns out on her car. Well, I've dumped enough money into headlights for now, and if she's going to go thru them like that, I'm not dropping buko bucks for them so I pick her up the $9 cheepy replacement. She gets to be lopsided I guess. Well, then last night on the way home, I notice that my headlights are funny and I'm thinking there's no way, but sure enough, one burnt out on my truck too. At this point, I'm assuming that it isn't coincidence even though my girlfriend did drive my truck Tuesday night. Also, I'm anal about not touching the bulb with my fingers because I know the oils cause heat fluctuations and all that bla bla so it's nothing I've done.
I call up O'Reilly and they won't do anything even though I have a receipt. They say to call Sylvania. I call them up this morning and tell me to fax them the receipt, and they'll warrenty their bulbs for a year. Not only that, but they'll send me a new set, and not just a singular bulb. I thought I had bought both sets at the same time but it turns out I hadn't so when I sent them the receipt, it only had 1 set on it. They called me back and said that without it on there, they couldn't send me the 2nd (understandable), but if I shipped them the burnt out bulb, they would send me a replacement set. I figure ok, $5 shipping from USPS and I'll get a new set. Well, they called me back again and said that they talked it over, and they will just go ahead and send me the 2nd set on my word.
Their customer service blew me away. I was for sure not expecting a whole new set, was thinking I'd get singular bulbs. And to send me the 2nd set on good faith? Amazing. You always only hear people complaining, so here is a good story.
