Discretionary funding of your addiction

Postby Duplex Lover » Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:19 am

Now that we are all counting pennys and doing our taxes... Ever wander how much % of the "Play" $$$ goes toward hunting/fishing/calling? I was looking at my Finances and it looks like a very large percent of the discretionary funds goes in to my addiction. The wife works full time and has the insurance. I work part time and have a 30 year teamster retirement. The house/car/truck have been paid for for years. SO just day to day living expanses. Which runs about 60%, So 40% is left, a large part of that goes in to Maintenance and together fun. That leaves about 10% for "Free" money. The wife thinks she gets half of that and is very happy, the truth be known her part is more like 30% of the free $$$ the rest looks like goes to MY fun, but it does it like congress, side ways and out the back door. We go to the fabric store and she will get stuff but some of it is Camo . We got to a department store and get stuff but there again ,camo gloves, coat ext. So over the years I have been siphoning off funds with out accounting for it. HUMM looks like I'm as bad as a democrat. Well it has worked for years I'm not going to point it out now...
Life is good.

I'm a single guy with no kids. So I easily spend well over 5k a year on "fun" stuff. The real number is probably closer to 10k....

I'm just too cheap to enjoy spending money. Even when I have to, it irks me. I'm to the point where it's fun for me to see how little I can spend to get through a week. The downside of this is that I occasionally have "explosions" where I just can't take it any more and spend a shit ton all at once. Just did this a couple weeks ago, when I blew over $350 on stocks and mag extensions for my shotguns, before I can't get them anymore. (for the record, I generally feel bad after I do this  )

I should also say that with two young kids, my discretionary income is very, very small anyway.

My "discretionary" money, would make most cry and run to the soup kitchen. My debt to income ratio is way out of wack (paying back way too many bar nights and fun times)

What's the point of having money if you don't have fun? Can't take it with you when you die!

Sounds like you are one of the people that just takes advantage of what everyone else should be sharing of yours. I mean you really should just put the check mark on your taxes this year to allow more to go to the Obamanation's needs to assist in the redistribution of this great nation's wealth. You should be ashambed of yourself. There are so many poor Americans that barely afford thier daily bowl or are still playing the last generation of video game and you seem to have no concern for their plight. Image
