Here is what I got back.
Not to happy about it.
Dear Zachary,

Thank you for contacting me about the tragic and senseless violence in Newtown, Connecticut. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and concerns with me.

If there is anything that deeply unites Americans across the country it is our love for our children and grandchildren and our desire to keep them safe. In the wake of the heartbreaking tragedy at Sandy Hook elementary, all of us must come together to determine what steps can be taken to protect our children. That means discussing how we can strengthen our gun laws to help stop attacks like this from happening again, while protecting responsible gun ownership and preserving our hunting heritage. It also means strengthening mental health services, and focusing on the broader culture of violence in the media and our society. These solutions may not be easy, but one thing should be clear – complacency and inaction until the next attack must not be an option.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please continue to keep me informed about issues of concern to you and your family.
Sincerely,

Debbie Stabenow
United States Senator

Here are the replys I got:

Thank you for contacting my office. I appreciate your thoughts regarding the Second Amendment rights of all Illinois residents.

Hunting is an important tradition across the state and in my native Southern Illinois, and as a former prosecutor and as Lt. Governor, I am committed to protecting our constitutional rights. But we also need to consider the effects of gun violence. Our efforts should focus on protecting both our constitutional rights and our safety.

My goal is to support measures that both reduce gun violence and protect the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners. As firearms legislation moves through the General Assembly, I expect that there will be a robust debate on these issues. I will continue to be involved in discussions that involve the safety of our citizens.

Thank you once again for your thoughts. It is important for me to maintain an active engagement with the public on all matters that affect our state. Please contact my office again at any time. Sincerely,

Sheila Simon
SS/dac
...............................

I want you to know I received your message regarding gun owner rights and the 2nd Amendment.

In light of the Obama Administration's proposed gun control plan, I am forming the Southern Illinois Gun Task Force to undertake protecting gun owners 2nd Amendment rights while addressing mental health concerns and reducing gun violence.

Please be assured I will keep your views in mind going forward in the 113th Congress.

I know. That's what pissed me off the most about her reply. I never mentioned the shooting once and this is what she opened with.

Dear Adam,

Thank you for contacting my office with your thoughts on gun control legislation. I appreciate hearing from you about this important issue.

I am deeply saddened by the mass shooting in Connecticut that took the lives of 20 innocent young children and many of their brave educators. My thoughts and prayers remain with the victims of this truly shocking attack. Such unthinkable violence affects our entire nation and has no place in our society.

In response to this tragedy, we must employ a comprehensive approach to firearm safety that includes improving access to mental health services and better enforcement of our current laws. We also need to consider measures such as limiting magazine clip capacity and requiring better background checks. Please know that I will carefully consider any legislation that would impact Second Amendment rights.

I am a strong supporter of an individual's right to bear arms for hunting and self-defense, and I believe our tradition of gun ownership can be respected while also ensuring that our cities and towns, schools and public buildings remain safe. I have supported these rights throughout my career, and I will continue to be an advocate for responsible firearm use while a member of the U.S. Senate.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with me. Please feel free to contact my office with any future questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Shaheen
United States Senator

We're screwed. I haven't seen a response to a single letter yet that doesn't mention something about increased gun regulations.

Dear Mr Johnson:

Thank you for your recent correspondence concerning the recent shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, and some recent attempts by anti-gun groups to use this incident to further control firearms. I appreciate you taking the time to express your thoughts on this matter.

I am saddened by the recent tragedy in Connecticut and my thoughts and prayers have been and will continue to be with the families of the victims and the entire community in Newtown, Connecticut. As you are aware, on January 16, 2013, President Obama announced his recommendations to address gun violence in the wake of this horrific event. I continue to believe that achieving the goal of safety for our children will be best accomplished through focusing on mental health issues as opposed to infringing on the Constitutional rights of law abiding citizens.

At the beginning of this Congress I took an oath to protect the Constitution, including the Second Amendment. I believe important safeguards must be in place to protect all of our Constitutional rights, including the right for law-abiding citizens to bear arms. We need to evaluate how to protect students and ensure troubled individuals get the help they need without infringing on the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens.

My colleagues and I on the House Energy and Commerce Committee have a renewed focus on mental health and we will certainly discuss how to move forward from this tragedy to hopefully prevent future violent attacks. In addition, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, of which I am also a member, will be examining school safety and how to best protect our children, and I will be interested in hearing from Kentucky education officials to get their views. As Congress considers these and other proposals relating to the Newtown, Connecticut shooting and gun rights, I will be sure to keep your views in mind.

Sincerely,

BRETT GUTHRIE Member of Congress

I despise all politicians, whether they agree with me or not. Just reading these letters makes me want to puke, including the one I got, and he actually sees eye to eye with me.

Here's what my form letter would consist of:

Dear Mr. Constituent:

You have nothing to worry about from me. I despise everything that the current administration is doing concerning firearms (among other things). As you and I both know, neither statistics nor common sense dictate that their proposed plan would work even one little bit. What it will do is make certain people feel good, other people feel bad, and criminalize a large portion of those exercising their constitutional right.

I am introducing legislation calling for public funding to provide every law abiding citizen with an assault weapon for their home, to use as they see fit. We are adults. If laws are broken, they should be harshly and swiftly punished. Until that time, citizens should be afforded the most basic rights guaranteed to us under the Constitution. If we can afford to pay people to sit at home, day after day, year after year, and do nothing, we can certainly afford to provide each citizen with a weapon. It would cost less than one monthly support check which we "willingly" provide to these leeches on our society. I will need your support for this, and in this manner, we can take back our communities from the criminals. Nobody should be forced to cower under their desk and hope not to be the next one shot, when it can be completely avoided by facing reality.

Thank you, and rest easy that I will always speak my mind and tell you what I think, rather than what I think you want to hear.

Sincerely,
Senator Assateague

If it is a letter supporting gun control, it will read exactly the same, except it will open with "you have everything to worry about with me".

The highlighted part is some more bullshit. I pay plenty of tax dollars, they use it or kiss my ass.

No, at least with my plan you get a free gun for some of your tax dollars. Better than Leroy getting another 6 bushels of steamed crabs.

Leroy said he is getting tired of crab anyways, and requests that next month it be changed to chicken and waffle vouchers.
