I have no mallards. Or any of that other stuff, either.

I started doing this just to make myself feel better about the second half of this year's season

That's funny, we'll lower our standards and go bust the divers when we're hard up and the puddlers are scarce.

Ducks a duck in my eyes, in all fairness. You've seen some my pics. I shoot mergs, hens, mallards...doesnt matter. Eat them all too.

Shoot 'em all and let the taxidermist sort 'em out.

All I know is that a mallard, sprig, gaddie, widgeon or teal off the barbie taste much better than most divers do. Regardless of how hard or easy they are to hunt

Me and Boot had a spot about 9 or 10 years ago where we would hammer golden eyes. It was a blast. Thats where the bacon wraps idea were born.

I agree Red. Although, I thought goldeneyes would taste like straight shit they didn't eat as bad as I thought they would. Hard as hell to clean yes, but disgusting no. I'd still take a puddler any day of the week over a diver even if they do decoy so perfectly.

I'd take a canvasback over anything for eating and fun shooting.
