Who likes to lay some carpet?

Postby Goldfish » Fri Feb 08, 2013 3:11 pm

And what can you tell me about it?

We NEED new carpet in the living room and the bedroom now thanks to the puppies. My girlfriend seems to think that potty training is going to be worthless without getting new carpet that doesn't have the smell of 6 other animals pee on it. While I see the thought process there, I don't really want to get new carpet, just to have the stupid dog pissing on the new stuff.

Anyways, that's a different battle. Right now I'm looking to see what is what and how much it'll cost me. What is the difference in the types of carpet? How about the carpet pad? Any tricks of the trade while putting it down?

Don't see how you do it Goldie. I'd loose my shit every day on the hour if my wife tried to rescue every dog she saw.

To say I'm laid back would be an understatement. I can get along with just about everyone, so why am I punished with this crap? I have no idea. I've kicked the cats out of the bedroom, and am really about to kennel the shit out of this pup till he learns where to pee. Either that or start beating him every time he pisses in the house. I know that isn't the way to do it, but I'll be damned if it won't make me feel better  He's "her" dog though, and she likes to think that if you don't ever kennel a dog, it'll be a good dog because she never had to kennel her jack russel. Well, that jack is a one in a million dog. My dog gets kenneled, the pit just gets put in the office during the day.

Why carpet again if you know you're going to have dogs? Got rid of my carpet for the same reason.

Because someone insisted on the (assa, don't look) $1400 kirby vacuum. I will choke a B before I rip up all the carpet now and don't replace it with more.

My ex wanted a dog, well she got said dog and then she proceeded to call me when he either pissed or shit in the floor, barked or bit her. I went over 1 time and watched him piss in the floor and whoop'd the shit outta him. Didn't happen again, we broke up and she asked me if I wanted the dog, I said nope you wanted it and now you got it.

Take the carpet up and put down interlocking laminate. I put the high grade shit thru my whole house. I love it. It looks real ( fooled everyone who has come over so far) And it was cheaper than carpet . Also has a lifetime residential warranty.

We pulled the carpet and stained and sealed the cement. We picked out an Adobe coffee color looks bitchin and easy to clean. Slap down a couple of throw rugs and your in business.

My house is on a slab as well but the glue they glued the original carpet down in the 50's with was black and real sticky. Nasty stuff. Had no choice but to cover it up with something. Carpet seemed like the obvious choice.

We put that snap together stuff in the office right before the foster dog had her litter of puppies. My buddy helping told me that it'd go to shit from the puppies and he had an extra bunch of vinyl from a job that he gave me. I put that down over the floor and it stood up for the most part, but puppies are puppies and it got ripped up (since it was litterally just set down) or the piss made it's way off the edge, etc, and now that stuff is ruined as well. Plus foster dog still pisses in there since she did that when she had her puppies in there with her.

You guys really are going to make me drink tonight remembering all this isht. I just wanted to know some stuff about carpet.

Yeah they sell some really good acid removal stuff when you buy the kit. It comes out super clean. We had a bunch of glue and paint under our carpet it seemed to do the trick.

Didn't read the whole thread, don't need to. Here is my advice on the installation of carpet: by it from home depot and let them install it for the additional $97. Nothing more to say.

Hell
Fucking
No

I told her she wanted it, she sure as hell is going to be the one pushing it. It's a good thing it has a shampoo attachment too, for her sake. Despite the stains, our floors are pretty clean for 4 dogs and 2 cats (meaning no hair or dirt).
