We just shoot a couple swimming by, in the dark, and use them for deeks all day.

Its bullshit! They should put them up for draw. The state will make money on the draw applications, and the tag itself. I would be willing to pay a trophy fee to have a swan tag in my pocket that was good for any day during the season. What do other states pay for a swan tag? 50 bucks? I'd be in.

$10 here. 5,000 permits issued by draw. with a average harvest rate of around 50% because a bunch morons from inland apply. i wish it costed more so the clowns with no means to hunt them wouldn't apply.

Sounds like they need to up the price and make it a trophy tag.

I feel like I've seen you refer to three different things as "ribeye of the sky" on here in the past week alone.

Well one may be ribeyeier than another but still ribeye right? Or the possibility exists I've only eaten one of the three and my imagination is a connoisseur of ribeye, the world may never know

Good looking decoys Red. I have a couple cork brant from the old decoy factory in Oak Hall here on the shore. I also plan to paint up some old herters plastic goose decoys as brant. We killed right many this year after we found a flock feeding in a wheat field with geese. They were very good on the table.

I never knew there was a factory in Oak Hall. Was it a custom shop only, or did they produce an entire line of decoys?

An entire line. I bought a book off amazon last week that came from Montana. As I was flipping through it a paper fell out. It was a painting instruction sheet for a bufflehead decoy kit that they had made. There is a lady in Saxis that used to work for them that sells her own decoys now. They were just up from T's Corner on the right headed north. If you look now the little shopping area is the Decoy Mall or something like that.

I know that place, but didn't think it was anything to do with an actual factory, just the hunting are-type thing. Huh. Learn something new every day.

Yes they are. Not many companies make them. They will readily come into goose decoys but I think for realism on our coastal marsh a brant rig might even help with our duck hunting. Not to mention they are fun as hell to shoot. I love the way they twist and turn as they head into the spread. Ive seen that the guys at bigger water decoys are making them now. Not sure on price though.

I'll check into them. The cost of new ones though would push Assa over the edge

Waterfowlman has one of the nicest brant rigs I've ever seen. He's got about 70 burlaps, double rigged, that will fool even a person, if you're more than about 20 yards away.

Ive seen some of his repaint pics he's posted. They are very nice. Best Ive seen is Chesser's rig while driving by in the boat. About 300 hand carved floating and standing brant. Its a poor sight.
