Let's talk about TV service providers!

Postby Tomkat » Mon Mar 25, 2013 11:20 am

Living in a rural area, my choices for TV are basicly 2 satellite providers.

I have Dish Network. They have a pretty good signal, and for $87 a month I get the NFL package, the Outdoor channel, 300 channels of crap, etc and rental on my recorder. I am thinking about dumping the outdoor channel, I dont feel like I am getting a good value.

For the most part, I hardly watch any TV at all in the summer.

What do you fellas use? How do you like it?

Nothing. All completely overpriced garbage. If there is a show I actually want to catch I can usually get it through my roku or online.

I could get rid of my TV provider completely except my wife keeps reminding me how we like to watch the old movies on TCM and AMC.
I watch a local station most of the time.
Can always ditch the cable tv.

We have $20/month fiber optic internet service from the city. My modem is a wi-fi hot spot. Fast.
Best deal we ever signed up for. The installation was free.

I have Charter internet and cable. Living up here the premise in this town sucks so cable picture is hit or miss, and with only one trunk backbone coming into the U.P. the saturation is pretty high and during peak hours you can really see a difference internet wise.

I hardly watch TV in the summer but it's nice for these long winters.

Dish tv can lead to front loading. Front loading leads to excessive sweating in public places. Excessive sweating in public places causes strangers to giggle behind your back. I'm not paying for that.

Same as Goldie, Direct TV. I like it, not sure about price. It is good quality and I don't mind paying whatever it is goo or worth it to me.

After I left my parents house for college up until one year ago I didnt have TV. Just in this last year Ive become enamored by eating challenges, horseshit child pageants, staged survival episodes, ringing up huge buys and resale garbage and the worst of all: Stephen A Smith & Skip Bayless. I can listen to them until the cows swallowing their gum. Kinda like the old CI forum, pure garbage.

thats what i used to have until i called and seriously threatened to switch to dish, said i want to cancel, they came back with upgraded services, HBO+Cinemax, HD channels and hi-speed net, for $79. You just have to threaten them with a lower rate from a competitor.

I pay $45 bucks a month for directv. Got HBO starz Cinemax . Lots of other channels too. This is what happens when the installer drills an unauthorized hole in a brand new floor and you call in raising hell abt it.

No. The lazy fkr wanted to put the dish on a pole in my front yard too. Made damn sure that didnt happen but he did drill a hole in the floor which he wasn't supposed to do.

I'm getting a small 12-volt TV for my truck. Will mount it in the camper-top that I haven't bought yet but was wondering what the best way to get reception would be. Several options and I bet maybe there's one I don't know about.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking, "just get a decent antenna like you use indoors. Some have pretty long ranges these days.
I missed the whole football season last year. Kinda want to avoid that this season.

It's going to have to be a powered digital antenna. No more over-the-air analog broadcasts.

Got a kid in my shop that works under me that can never man up to his mistakes. No matter what it is, it's always someone else's fault. He's a prime example of what's wrong with today's youth in America, this is the same kid I threatened to write him up if he said "YOLO" one more time.
