I'm always looking for a reason to get away from here around July. I would like to do some inshore, minus a handful of fish, have only done offshore.

If you do, and you get into some croaker, you will never want to eat anything else.

Not even my antelope roast? They look like a drum, do they eat similar to a black or red drum, sheepshead?

Never had black drum. It's hard to compare them to a red drum, because they're so much smaller than the ones I've eaten. The filets are thin, but really tasty and firm, not as firm as a dolphin, but they make bluegill/crappie/catfish look like mushy wet paper towels. About like the texture of flounder, but far more flavor.

You need to try sturgeon. The meat is closer in firmness to pork then fish.

When I was goibg to Florida every year, I kept very few fish I caught back home, unless it was a walleye.

Is sturgeon similar to shark, I figured it would be.

My neighbor goes shark fishing a couple times a year, and usually gives me a couple chunks of mako. It is delicious.

Only had bull, blacktip, and one other, I liked it. Catching big sharks takes up too much of your day, fun though.

The drum fishing from the beach is excellent here in October. Some guys really clean up, but i just don't like fishing that much to go stand in the cold and surf fish.

We don't call them (editbymod) fish here for nothing. Catch them all day and chunk them right back.
