I used to think shit of all fruity beer, but then I got to thinking about the essential function of beer. It's really one of the things that enabled our ancestors to thrive while others fell behind.

After the Neolithic revolution (shift to agriculture, start of civilization) we found out we could grow enough food to stay in one place. The next major hurdle that seperated men from savages was the ability to store that food over long periods of time. This where my theory of "Beer, Cheese, and Sausage" comes into play. Curing meat, storing the fat from milk as cheese, and fermenting grains and other foodstuffs into beer gave certian cultures the competitive edge that allowed them to conquer the globe. Meat, milk, and grain are three things that will rot if you don't eat them before they have the chance. By storing those calories in a form that resists spoilage, you made your food last longer, like trans-oceanic voyage longer. It's the sole purpose that Europeans emerged as global travelers and ass whoopers.

Now I love all beer, no matter what its made of. It made America happen.
