I have seen plenty of 15 year old Dewalt chop saws around with no problems. I hate just about everything Dewalt makes, but their 12" chop has been great for me so far. Mines 8 years old and has been flawless. I just like how they aren't bulky. The Bosch and Hitachi have big dumb guards that get in the way.
One thing is for sure, never waste your money on a 10" miter saw, go 12"

I don't mind spending the money on a good saw. I thought Dewalts were good. I am far from being a contractor. I want to buy a good one that will last. If I do, it should last me a long time.
