What REALLY irritates me is when I get irritated at something stupid... and then get busted out.

They have my support no matter what! I don't have the balls to go over there and do their job. I'm sure as hell am not going to judge them for doing what they are ordered to do or even not ordered to do.

And I don't think I've had a soldier ever tell me that they were fighting for my freedom. They are fighting against terrorism, which is fighting for your safety.

And how many of our wars were not political?

WWII was not driven by politics.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

WWII stands apart from most other wars because despite the politics it was generally about the world coming together to stop true evil.

But it did involve political disagreements too even though that wasn't the main contributor.

I agree although politics were involved to a lesser degree.

If I meet a WW2 vet I make a point to shake their hand and thank them every time.

Everything in life can be boiled down to politics if you wanted to take an argument to that ridiculous point.

WWII was by far more about stopping real evil then politics.

I'm not arguing with you. I agree 100% that wasn't what the war was about but politics pretty much drive everything the government does anymore. It's kinda sad.

If that was the case, we never would have buddied up with Stalin. I do agree with you for the most part, but we really didn't know about the "evil" you speak of until the war was damn near over. From a geopolitical standpoint, it was evil from the get-go, but from a humanitarian standpoint, when we entered the war, we really didn't have a clue.

True, at the time though we didn't really have all the facts about stalin then either.

Got that right. Like I said, I do agree, though. ON the scale of "justness" when it comes to wars, WWII was pretty damn near the top, right after the Revolution.

The Bohemian Grove is where the most powerful men in the world assemble, get naked, worship a 40 foot owl and discuss how they're going to manipulate the world
