Finally pulled the trigger on my first bow. Got a Bear Encounter RTH package. It seemed to be the best bow within my price range and also had the draw length I would need being as tall as I am.

My advice, learn some treestand masturbation techniques. Nothing passes boredom better.
Just kidding.

Best thin you will ever do is get rid of that worthless safety harness. So restrictive in the crotchal region.

Then it would just be too easy. Everything in life is much more satisfying when you have to work for it.

Get offthe stand and actually hunt them. It takes the edge off the boredom.
That's hard to do with a bow in hardwood forests with 50-100 yard visibility. Your best off to let them come to you.

I'm guessing you've never been to the Pacific Northwest part of the US. There are very few places you can see that far here. Actually, the brushier the better, to a certain extent. It allows you to get closer to the game.
I wasn't really trying to put a dig on your style or type of hunting, was just saying, if they aren't moving then you should just move to them.![]()
Most of my animals I've killed with a bow are inside 30 yards. In 2011, I was 10 yards from an elk and couldn't get a clear shot, so I didn't shoot. It's just part of the game.

I know a few people here that are from the Astoria area. They all say that elk and deer hunting in Oregon is a walk in the parm over deer in NY...quite literally

This right here is why I never EVER want to own a boat. I don't think there can be a larger money sink.

id say at least half if not more of the deer I have shot in northern lower Michigan have been on the stalk, most inside of 60 yards or so, have you ever tried doing it slowly and quiet? I can hold still in a deer blind for about 10 minutes, I can creep through the woods like molasses all day. Helps with a fresh rain or a little snowNuffDaddy wrote:I understand what your getting at, but if you've ever attempted to hunt deer in the northern LP of Michigan you would understand how useless it is to try and stalk. The whitetails here are so pressured from hunters that a stalk is nearly impossible. Especially to get into bow range.
