A Test

Postby assateague » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:59 pm

So my wife ordered me a small pack and a shaving kit over the weekend. Here are the tracking details:

-the pack is being sent FedEx ground, and the shipping cost was $12.95. It "departed FedEx facility Los Angeles 4/3 09:33
-the shaving kit is being sent USPS, and the shipping cost was $11.95. It departed USPS Sort Facility City Of Industry, CA 4/3 08:18

I am curious to see just how badly FedEx is going to drub the USPS, since they left the same location at roughly the same time. USPS has an hour head start. Any wagers? Anybody have faith in the USPS? Anyone?

USPS does have the chance at a Saturday delivery for the win, since FedEx doesn't deliver around here on Saturdays. But I am skeptical of that outcome.

USPS sucks balls. You'll get it in an month opened and used.

I can't believe she doesn't love you enough to send it overnight though.
I mean it can't cost THAT much to send something from California to Maryland.

I say fedex by 2 days.

I'll go a step farther by saying that fedex's tracking system will have a more accurate detail of its whereabouts, usps will still show it in Omaha the day it gets delivered.

When I had both the traveling deeks (DHC and WFF), I shipped DHC via USPS and WFF FedEx. I paid almost 6x the amount for WFF, to make sure It got there for the party. The USPS got there in a day and a half. I think The WFF via FedEx took 3 days, if I remember right.
DHC deek was a closer address but I sent it regular and FEdEx I paid for one of their expedited options.
Sometimes, if it doesn't matter, and/or you don't really care, the USPS surprises you. That never happens when it is important and you got to have it.
So, is it important or(?)?

This is a fact. This is actually one of the rare times when USPS shows anything at all in their shipping details for a tracking number.

FedEx Ground is plenty cheap, and usually gets there plenty fast. The expedited ones get pricey fast, but regular Ground is far cheaper than anything else. I've found them to be 1/2 the price of UPS, and about 1/3 the price of USPS, especially when you start getting in to slightly bigger boxes (bigger than 2 breadbaskets).

open a FedEx business account, you get a discount and account number so you can just fill out the card, dump and run

My answer is:
It depends on which package your "prescription" is in.

AT...What did you order from Cali?
Eye medicine? ;) ;)
This pack and shaving kit story isn't holding water since the wife can get those at Walmart.
C'mon AT, fess up. What did you REALLY order from Cali?

I thought they canceled Saturday delivery for USPS or was that just a sequester threat?

You like it? If I don't like this one my wife got me, that thing's going on eBay, and I'm back in the market. I thought about the one you got, but didn't like the idea that the main compartment doesn't zip all the way open.
