PETA Plans to Fly Drones That Would 'Stalk Hunters'
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is actively shopping for a drone that would "stalk hunters," the organization said Monday.

The group says it will "soon have some impressive new weapons at its disposal to combat those who gun down deer and doves" and that it is "shopping for one or more drone aircraft with which to monitor those who are out in the woods with death on their minds."

The group says it will not weaponize the drones, but will use them to film potentially illegal hunting activity and turn it over to law enforcement.

"The talk is usually about drones being used as killing machines, but PETA drones will be used to save lives," PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk said in a statement.

They are currently considering purchasing the CineStar Octocopter, which is capable of carrying a DSLR camera for up to 5 minutes. With smaller cameras, the drone can fly for about 20 minutes. The group says it also hopes to fly drones over factory farms, fishing spots and "other venues where animals routinely suffer and die."

In order to legally operate the drone, it will likely need a certificate of authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration, a process which can take several months.

Kaitlynn Kelly, a representative for PETA, tells U.S. News that they will soon seek FAA approval but that they "hope this won't be an issue," and that they plan to have permission to fly beginning in the fall.

"We're not releasing the locations that we have in mind, but we will look into the Northeast, bighorn sheep hunts and bowhunts because those are especially cruel," she says.

The group may want to carefully monitor its drone—last year, an animal rights group drone was shot down while it was attempting to monitor pigeon hunters in South Carolina.

I've yet to see any of these PETA folks anywhere in my life. You know what this leads to right hammer? Target practice. These PETA folks are nothing like the actual FBI listed terrorists of the 70's and 80's. Those animal activists actually had something going for them.

I thought it was comical. Posted it here to see others reaction. Shooting it down would be what I would do.

If I saw that while duck hunting, I'd switch to rifle hunting in camo in the woods the next day and pick it off from a distance not on camera. They can have fun getting it from the bottom of a bottomless rice lake

That's my point. I'm not at all worried.

Until the day when unidentified flying object is circling overhead. Then I hope I don't confuse it for a mallard x bluebill.

I feel sorry for those pussies, what a joke. If they actually follow through with this then I can finally justify sending some TSS through my gun.

How many acres of land do PETA and SHARK flood and manage for waterfowl? How much money do they donate to waterfowl conservation programs? How many birds do they band and study to help understand and preserve the waterfowl population?

If they would spend half the money on wetland restoration projects that they do on anti hunting campaigns they would save twice the ducks they are now. This just shows the intellectual abilities these retards have.

They ought to be charged with harassment. Same goes for PETA. They're fringe, and they're just going to get themselves into trouble and look like idiots. Hunters keeping their cool is the last thing they want to film.

Do a quick search on how many dogs and cats are killed in Peta's animal shelters. They are hypocrites.

I don't have to. I know. I've seen the numbers. Their "shelter" at their headquarters only adopts out around 20 or so animals a year. They take in somewhere between 1000-2000. It's something like 94% of the animals they take in get euthinized, many within 24 hours.

All animal rights groups are gold digging bastards. Found out a few years back that my grandma was giving money to the humane society which isn't much better than PETA. Ended that quick.
