For one, I love the way he runs his business. He requires EVERYONE in the company, including him, to work the customer service phone lines at least 4 hours a month. This makes everyone feel involved and LISTEN to their customers. They have won numerous awards for their business inovations and techniques. Great idea, more companies should do that.
Larry and Brenda Potterfield created two programs and several educational endowments in the National Rifle Association (NRA) Foundation. Brenda also served as the Vice President of the NRA Foundation's Board of Trustees. Since 1992, MidwayUSA has asked customers to round up the total of each order and donate the change to the NRA/ILA. Since its inception, MidwayUSA has collected over $7.2 million for the NRA/ILA National Endowment for the Protection of the 2nd Amendment.
Friends of NRA was founded in 1992 with the establishment of the Columbia, Missouri chapter, and has expanded to over 1,020 chapters. The group holds its monthly meetings in the MidwayUSA building. Many MidwayUSA associates help with and attend the annual Friends of NRA fund-raising banquet.
Midway USA is an annual major sponsor of the NRA Bianchi Cup, the National Action Pistol Championship.
Larry and Brenda Potterfield established the MidwayUSA Foundation, a 501(c) not-for-profit, charitable organization, in 2007. The Potterfields began the Foundation as a result of their passion and interest in education for shooting, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills.
The Foundation’s largest fund is the Scholastic Shooting Trust (SST) Fund, an endowment to provide financial support for collegiate and high school shooting programs. The SST Fund, through its website, provides alumni and other interested parties of universities, colleges and high schools the ability to financially support a school's competitive shooting program or financially assist in the start-up of a scholastic shooting program. Donations provide immediate grant potential for a school's shooting program(s) along with sustained funding from the investment earnings of the fund.
Boot, I could go on and on. Shall we at least agree that he is a smart man who is dedicated to our way of life?
Would you say that he has done more for the sport than, say, Chad Belding, etc ?
The word I get from living down I-70 on him is that he IS INDEED a great guy. His reputation is anyway.
Do I know this first hand? NO to answer your question directly.
Let me ask one back to you.
Does he sound like a bad guy to you? You are a professional at with dealing with bad guys, no? It's what you do for a living, right? You are involved with a number of bad guys on any given week I am guessing, so it would qualify you, IMO, as an expert.
What percentage of them have started charities and employed people, in your experience?
That strikes me as the opposite of ordianry...which would be great. There fore, great guy.
But HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could be wrong.
I am not gonna bad mouth an ally in our cause because he was born less than perfect. He has done the best he could with what god gave him to start with.
