Prayers

Postby DeadEye_Dan » Mon Apr 15, 2013 2:30 pm

My BIL ran the Boston Marathon earlier today, and with the bomb attacks since, I'm concerned for his safety.

My double cousin and his girl friend were running in the BM today.
He called his dad right away and told him he was okay.
He was a mile from the finish line.

His mother and I have argued about gun control for years. Maybe this will bring my point home to her a bit.

They're actually jammed, shut down by the govt, to prevent any other devices which may be triggered the same way.

No, my cousin has ran in several Bouston marathons. He is a fitness junkie.
And I know he called his dad and his brother. Would bet money all of that really happened.

I think you are talking about the cell phone shut off?

Rather then the govt shutting down cell phone towers (they have zero control over them) I bet they are or were saturated with traffic. The only way I see cell towers going off line is if the police ASKED Verizon or at&t to switch them off. I'd be surprised if they would both companies have a gold rating in not giving into govt silliness.

Sent from my phone.

Here are offical statements from both major carriers in Boston.Verizon and AT&T.

"Verizon Wireless has been enhancing network voice capacity to enable additional calling in the Copley Square area of Boston. Customers are advised to use text or email to free up voice capacity for public safety officials at the scene. There was no damage to the Verizon Wireless network, which is seeing elevated calling and data usage throughout the region since the explosions occurred."

Boston customers may have issues w/wireless voice & data service due to spike in network activity. Our Wi-Fi remains on at #BostonMarathon.

Luckily our communication infrastructure in this country is still privately owned and the "govt" can't just turn it off at will.

Was there a service interruption in public radio and warning they practice for?

Tt my sister who was able to chat with him for a few minutes. Apparently, he finished his race an hour or so ahead of the first bomb.

Appreciate the kind thoughts and prayers gents.
