Have you ever been to The Two Hearted River?

I want to go on a 3 day kayaking/fly fishing/camping trip, and it is the only one I can find that has 20+ miles without damns, basically no houses, and nearly no over passes.

I looked at The Au Sable River, but I don't think there is a streech long enough, correct me if I am wrong.

Is there another river that I am missing that would work?

They have a canoe race from grayling to oscoda that takes like 20 some hours. Is that enough paddling for ya? But there is a lot of dams and lakes between glennie and oscoda. Decent steelhead fishing from the last dam to the mouth.

To meet your criteria, the Two Hearted is probably the only choice.

The Au Sable should be close though - the marathon is 120 miles!!

If you're looking for seclusion the two hearted is going to be your best choice. I haven't been on it before though so can't tell you what you're going to be getting into. Au Sable is going to be better fishing I would imagine, but I know a lot of people float it in the summer.

If it were me, I would do the Two Hearted.

Then again, if it were me I would probably just do things right and head to the Boundary Waters for a week.

I'm wanting to do it live off the land style... No comforts other than maybe a sleeping bag.

Plastic tarp for a tent, catch my food, and all that...

Maybe I will hit the Au Sable for a practice run with just some granola bars for food just in case I can't hack it.
Then next summer I will head to The Two Hearted.

Good luck.
Floated down the Au Sable from the whirlpool to Oscoda last month and pulled a few nice steelies.

I've been on the two hearted for a canoeing trip, there is a state camp ground near the mouth of the river. Pretty cool place, you'll have fun and if you're looking for a over night kayak trip that's the place lots of state land on either side along the way.

Damn there are so many people from MI... Have I got you all now?

Olly, thanks for the info!

If you got anything else let me hear it, I'm probably going to need all the help I can get.

To bad I'm leaving or I'd go with you. We did a one day trip up the river and stayed at the park near the mouth. It was a good time but I wasn't there for fishing.

Sent from my phone.

That's the same thing you said the second time I asked you, your antics really crack me up

First time we were talking about that property in Marshall and the second was a few months ago on the phone.
