Nuff, if you look back I said some people get runners; I had one go near to 60 yards once.
I never said I was en expert even though I have been shooting for over 40 years and own my own rifle range.
What I will say is I am very experienced.

as you shouldnt Tom, it isnt safe for factory actions.totally agree about shot placement. head shots only if its there
How many jaws have you taken off?
vaporized a few heads. never have just taken a jaw off. if you cant hit a deer in its head at 100 yards or less you need more trigger time

And whoever did dang sure didn't shoot it in the heart.

DeadEye_Dan wrote:Since we are sharing shoulder recipes -
Take 1 large shoulder
Perforate it with a 140 Nosler Ballistic Tip @ 3,000 feet per second.
(This will create a very nice jellied texture to the entire shoulder and will completely breakdown the connective tissue and bones).
Cut out the backstraps and slice into steaks and sear on a hot grill.
Enjoy with a cold beer while enjoying the memory of shooting the deer and not having to track the deer or fuck with a marginal piece of meat.
If your still hungry, repeat as necessary.
Not to be a dick, but it's the same reason why I breast my birds and don't mess with the legs/back etc.
God makes more every spring.

Lotta little limbs where I hunt that you can't see. They will nock a bullet off course by a few inches.

you ever grind the heart and make Coney Island chili for hit dogs? It's quite authenticRick wrote:Dining on a deer heart I didn't hit with a double lung shot as I type this. Thought about saving the shoulders I shot behind for assa's bbq recipe, but they were boned for the ground meat we use umpteen ways, along with the neck I didn't shoot. Life is good.

I bow hunt more than rifle. Before I started duck hunting, I bow hunted 3 days a week.

Bow shots are inside 20 yards, and I can usually see any small limbs in the way. 150 yard rifle shot...not so much.
