Nope, never saw it. Could you sum it up?

It's been a while, but it was a guy talking to his wife about going in an Internet forum and boosting his post count. Something about putting a bunch of prostaff stuff and season totals in his sig. And taking pictures off the Internet and posing them. Says he has never duck hunted, but the people on the forum think he is a pro.
It's pretty funny. I can't find it anywhere though.

Oh, ok. It was that weird little video with the computer voices, right? That was funny.

That's what it was, it was pretty funny.

Yeah. It was good. Spot on of what most of the prostaff guys are on the forums.

Is this it? It's about fishing.

For those of you that helped me thank you. Everyone else that is assuming and judging the type of hunter I am I really appreciate it.

Not judging you. Nothing wrong with wanting to do some promotional stuff if that's up your ally. It's just most guys do it so they can say they are prostaff and they don't even really hunt. Just like the attention and "big shot" feeling.

I don't believe anyone here is judging you or making any assumptions about you. Like I said in my first post, I don't know if we have many pro or field staffers here.

So we do what we do best, make jokes, poke fun, and have a good time. Nothing is directed at you or your attempt to get on with a couple companies. Good luck to you, there were a few helpful posts. If anything we busted each others balls and not yours.

This is usually where the OP posts up that everything is ok and we move on. Or, says fuck you! Pm's me that I am a cocksucker and then puts me on his Foe list. Your choice. Good luck with your pursuits, incase you go with option #2 and can't see my posts anymore.

You failed the test. A true prostaffer is going to have to deal with many different types of people, some rude, in large trade show settings. A prostaffers job is to be a salesman, pushing a product for very little to no pay, all in hopes that one day you'll make it to the "staffer pinnacle" - Chad Belding.
Good luck, sounds like you need it.

Thanks, but I didn't help you at all. The only thing I posted that might have helped was that we don't have many people here with that kind of experience. Then I poked fun at Duck Hammer, Gaddy, Tripod, and a few others.

But like I said before, good luck. And the biggest piece of advice I can give you is, don't take anything posted on here too seriously. This is a great site with a great group of guys, but we are pretty hard on each other and threads have a way of taking on a life of their own. Have fun here and give as good as you get!

Very true, and I believe you got the info you asked for very quickly. Get some barrel stickers, a new camo wrapped truck, take pictures with piles of ducks wether you shot them or not, and contact companies.

Also the bullshitting wad covered. If you have what it takes to be a used car salesman, or even one of those guys who runs the games at the carnaval, you can be a prostaff.

Dammit! You're right (bet you don't hear that very often).

@ K_f'n_A, my comment was accurate. I personally know a guy who was a staffer for Zink, it sounded like a shit job that you couldn't force me to take. It was all on a points based system, every waterfowler show or cabelas appearance earned a certain amount of points. You go to the shows out of your own pocket. If you don't earn enough points every year you get dropped. His reward? Zink calls at cost plus 10%. Whoopee!

I appreciate what you and NuffDaddy had to say, you were the only ones who seemed to really help.
what about Beel???!

This.

Beel gave the best advice of all, and spelled out the most important part of pro-staffer (promotional). If you want to be a pro-staffer, you have to have something to offer to the company. Killing a ton of birds does nothing for a company, there are literally thousands of people who kill just as many, if not more birds than anyone on this forum. You have to have something to offer them in return, and that is the ability/desire to promote their brand. If you don't attend any expos and only want free stuff in trade for sending them pictures of you killing birds, best of luck. Not to mention that most pro-staffs require that you attend so many shows a year, and 99% for 95% of the guys doing it, that is ALL out of pocket. Your reimbursement comes in the form of discounts (read: not free) on their merchandise. Another huge plus to getting your foot in the door is to be very familiar with (read: already using) that company's product. Most major companies receive hundreds if not thousands of pro-staff requests, and most of them are just guys looking for free stuff. Give yourself a leg up and show them that you aren't in it for the product, but that you believe in their product and would like to have the opportunity to promote it to others. You don't see me mention it much, but I am actually on Mossy Oak's ProStaff. The only reason I even considered it is because I already wore Mossy Oak camo and attended most of the expos in my area anyway (and my buddy had an in).

Quite honestly, I usually don't comment on posts like this, because it really seems that if someone can't figure this much out on their own, they probably aren't what a company is looking for in a pro-staffer. In all reality, all you are is a salesman, but you don't get paid and you don't get commission. I hope this helps.
To achieve success, one must possess dedication, passion and a boatload of decoys.
