I appreciate what you and NuffDaddy had to say, you were the only ones who seemed to really help.
what about Beel???!
This.
Beel gave the best advice of all, and spelled out the most important part of pro-staffer (promotional). If you want to be a pro-staffer, you have to have something to offer to the company. Killing a ton of birds does nothing for a company, there are literally thousands of people who kill just as many, if not more birds than anyone on this forum. You have to have something to offer them in return, and that is the ability/desire to promote their brand. If you don't attend any expos and only want free stuff in trade for sending them pictures of you killing birds, best of luck. Not to mention that most pro-staffs require that you attend so many shows a year, and 99% for 95% of the guys doing it, that is ALL out of pocket. Your reimbursement comes in the form of discounts (read: not free) on their merchandise. Another huge plus to getting your foot in the door is to be very familiar with (read: already using) that company's product. Most major companies receive hundreds if not thousands of pro-staff requests, and most of them are just guys looking for free stuff. Give yourself a leg up and show them that you aren't in it for the product, but that you believe in their product and would like to have the opportunity to promote it to others. You don't see me mention it much, but I am actually on Mossy Oak's ProStaff. The only reason I even considered it is because I already wore Mossy Oak camo and attended most of the expos in my area anyway (and my buddy had an in).
Quite honestly, I usually don't comment on posts like this, because it really seems that if someone can't figure this much out on their own, they probably aren't what a company is looking for in a pro-staffer. In all reality, all you are is a salesman, but you don't get paid and you don't get commission. I hope this helps.
To achieve success, one must possess dedication, passion and a boatload of decoys.
