glad to see you can read. All Hail to the Mighty Eric Haynes, Slayer of Animals Far and Wide and God of all Ballistics Knowledge.
Thanks for the title! Glad to see how you handle criticism like a man

In this case you better get a .99 black powder in case a hippo pops out in front of you.
Eric, I never said an animal would laugh off a shot from a .50, it would kill, eventually. In the western states, .50 cal in a muzzleloader is considered the
bare minimum caliber for big game hunting. I am well aware of how big .50 is, i'm also aware that black powder is a lot less potent than smokeless.
If you were aware of western history, you'd know a couple of guys came out here exploring a few hundred years ago. they brought military .49 caliber rifles and tried to shoot grizzlies, they decided that wasn't such a good idea.
I live approx. 45 miles from the border of YNP, we have grizzlies in the woods here. To not take that into consideration when going into the mountains would be foolish. Since you live in a state that has never had grizzlies within 1000 miles of it, you just need to shut the fuck up, period.
Doc, sorry to derail your thread, wasn't my intention.
