What you just said breaks the laws of physics.

And if you don't need 4 WD and you are using it, you are doing two things... Using extra gas and shortening the life of your truck.

the siping allows better traction on snow and ice, therefore your tires don't break free and lock up. so yes, you brake better with siping.

if you compromise better traction for gas mileage, something you paid for and are literally are burning up anyway, you're retarded. i doubt you're shortening the life of a vehicle by using 4 wheel drive.

It is asinine not to use 4 WD based on the gas millage crap. You paid a hell of a lot more money to have the capability to use it, why start worrying about spending money when you need it?

Locking up? What are driving? EBS prevents lockups.

Wtf is siping?

Your last statement tells me you better read an economics book, and I never said I traded it. I said I don't need 4x4 on the road unless I get stuck.

And yes it wi shorten the life of your truck.

exactly. i bought the truck to have truck capabilities. if i wanted good mileage, i'd find a hippie bitch with a subaru and stick a saddle on her.

an abrams tank gets better mileage than my truck.

To use when you need it...not to use when you get a little ice or snow on maintained roads.

Incase you get stuck!

Having four wheel drive does not help you when going straight at a constant rate of speed. Only when you are trying to accelerate. It increases the amount of force you can apply.

:-D
If you all feel safer putting in the 4wd then go for it. My moms new SUV has traction control and auto engaging 4wd. It's sketchy as hell to drive on slick roads. If you slide or spin at all the car makes a ton of noise and lights start flashing and your tires start spinning and locking up on their own. Fuck that.

Enlighten us then. If you know how to drive on snowy roads, then 4wd is a waste if time and money.

computer generated micro cuts into the tire to help it spread out more. it's like sticking velcro on your tires and the road. i will have it done on every tire i ever buy again.

If you are talking about cutting your treds, then I know, but we are talking about driving in 4x4 and I can't see how siping is related to 4x4.

Woa. My truck has abs and stabilitrac or something like it. If I slam on the brakes on ice or snow the brakes go bam bam bam bam bam...
It feels terrible but damn, that truck stops quick and Imagewith zero loss of control.

Don't you think there is a reason that the multi billion dollar tire company chose not to do it to the tire?

How does that help your argument for driving on pavement with four wheel drive just because it snowed?

can't see your pic. the ABS i've had in work trucks makes a weird grinding sound and once you start to slide, doesn't disengage. dunno if it was working correctly or not, but i had no recovery.
