I kill the majority of my hookers over water.

waterfowlman wrote:The eastern shore of Virginia's vast coastal marshes have kind of spoiled me. Mornings are kinda magical out there. We usually rig with Canada goose, Brant and Black duck floater decoys as those are our favorite species of birds to target. It is not unusual to shoot many different species of ducks over that same rig.
When the young fellas want action we tow out a couple of layout boats with a diver rig and let them blast away until their bloodlust has been satisfied. (they also have to clean them all themselves)
Personally I enjoy dropping those greater canadas in close more than anything else with Brant and the way they bunch up tight just before landing being a close second.

Many a duck hunt has turned into a spec hunt around here. Not some much the other way around.

In jumpshooting, you get 3 shots in to those 200 birds and kill maybe 3 or 4 and never see those ducks again. You decoy 200 birds, shoot 3 times and kill 3, and then another flock comes in, you shoot 3 more, and another flock comes in, and you get to decide what bird you want to shoot to finish your limit. After you finish your limit, you can keep landing flocks for the hell of it, while waiting for some geese to come around. I love a good jumpshoot, and used to like it more than decoy hunting, but I've come around to the ways of these old timers.

Wen you shoot into a flock of over 200, you're praying to god you don't shoot over the limit.

Been there, done that. I'm not a bad ass. That's a given. I asked a question and you changed the question so your answer is invalid.Rick wrote:aunt betty wrote:So...

Psst...they're birds. You want to be a bad ass, take on something that shoots back.

occasionally you'll see it flooded low spots in fields. But not often enough to pattern em. It'd be a shot in the dark. Rarely on riversjarbo03 wrote:Redbeard wrote:yup but really hunt able here that wayassateague wrote:You guys are aware that geese land in water too, right?
