Its my opinion that all that hype of his so called Bigfoot encounter he had. Was just to get another show going. He's previous show started to lose steam and he wants to piggyback onto the recent Bigfoot craze. New show new money.

 I know what you mean. A few years back I had an intense spitting distance run in with a really big, really pissed off black bear. All I had was my bow in hand, The whole time I was just thinking about how I was about to get in a fight with a bear while a perfectly good .454 was laying under my pillow, 400 yards away back at camp and how I wished this same scenario upon the dick hole who came up with the law that we can't pack heat while bow hunting in Ca. I haven't gone into the woods with a bow or without a heavy revolver, since.

I honestly don't get what you guys are afraid of. I've been hunting in the woods since I was 7 years old. I've been bow hunting probably 35 years or close to that. I have never carried a side arm, ever. My parents never taught me about the boogieman and I never taught my kids that either. For the most part, animals with very few exceptions are more afraid of you than you are of them. Now, if I was on Kodiak Island, I would use common sense and arm myself.
I don't know how California was able to swing it but, Oregon lost the battle of telling archers and bow hunters they couldn't have a side arm. It's a U.S. Constitutional right to bare arms, even when hunting with a bow. Like I said, Oregon lost that battle in court years ago.
With that said though, you will be charged by law enforcement if you use that firearm to dispatch a wounded animal while bow hunting in Oregon.

Well said Mike. Whenever my boys or wife says seething about being scared while we're out camping or exploring, I always tell them I feel a lot safer having you guys out here than I do driving through south Phoenix.

I ask myself that exact same question/tell myself that same thing as I'm waking thru the woods at o'dark thirty. Been hunting the same woods my whole life at the farm and so I can usually calm it there. Hunting new woods down by me tho, I can't keep the hairs on the back of my neck down. I still keep walking and get to where I was going, but it's nerve wracking at times.

I'm more concerned about lions than anything else when I'm out and about, they're the only animal that I think perceives us as prey, especially when encountered at night. That said, I don't worry and panic, but I do watch my six and let my gut feelings determine my course of action.

wolves are nothing to worry about, I enjoy seeing them. The coolest duck hunting experience i've had was listening to a pack of wolves kill an elk on a cold, snowy, moonlit night. It was so surreal and fucking epic.

I pretty sure during archery deer you are not allowed to carry a sidearm in California.

I run from point A to point B yelling "you cant get me, you can't get me!" while waving my pistol in the air above my head, firing a shot every once in a while.

Has anyone ever walked up on some foxfire? Pretty spooky till I realized why there was splotches of glowing stuff on the ground. I was pretty sure I was about to get abducted and probed by aliens.

Do you do ocular pat downs also?
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

My experience was witnessed by a bunch of people, enough of us made phone calls that the local Air Force base made a statement on the matter. They said it was the northern lights and that we shouldn't worry about it.
