I cannot even comprehend needing 750 shells for a season. That just blows my mind.

I wish it was just because I shoot that well :?

Depends on how much of the season you hunt. If you go to the right places at the right time we can hunt waterfowl from sept1-feb15.

That is still over a box of shells per week for nearly 30 weeks in a row, week in and week out. For a hunter (not a guide), even a retired hunter, that is a lot. I know people do it.

Most years I hunt from around Sept 1 (early goose) until early March (spring snows). In my best year, I might have gone through a case with half that shot at snow geese. It's a pile of shells and just blows my mind. Also makes me very jealous.

Although I shoot noticeably less shells now that I lost my dog. Because it was my dog, I was shooting a disproportionate amount of the cripples.

I've had days in the tender where I've shot 30+ shells cleaning up cripples for other guys, and a real poor streak of shooting that reduced my stash by half a case over a 4 day trip.

I don't like to chase cripples. Haha
I've shot at a single cripple 6+ times a lot more than once. I hunt 3 days a week and go through at least a box a week unless it's really slow. I do my fair share of missing too though. 99% of my hunting is big water shoreline, so it's tough to get birds in your face. Most shots are 30+ yards...that's my excuse anyway. :-)

I was batting close to 800 for early goose though. That's like hitting fat kids

My early goose shooting was horrible, depending how you score it. I killed 5 out of the 7 geese I shot at.

It just took me 18 shots in the air, 3 to finish off cripples, and 1 decoy that got smoked.

I keep shooting like that, I'll end up shooting 3 cases as well :( And I'll need to buy more decoys.

I made sure I got out and hit the trap range. I definitely needed it. Only 10 days until our duck season opens.

That was 3 years ago when all 3 of my boys where hunting .
I also hunt 120 plus days a season 6 or 7 days a week . And i don't kill every bird I shoot at I do some missing from time to time ..

I am a very selective shooter I guess.

We always keep half a case of shells in the blind and there have been days when we need it. Usually it's due to terrible shooting.

My boys are 3 and 6, it's about time to start taking the oldest out which means buying camo for a growing kid. That's gonna make for some expensive seasons to come. At least the youngest can wear what the older one grows out of.

Ha. No, 4 days, 2 people, diver ducks and upland.

That is likely way more than we need, but I would hate to run out.

I think when we had 6 guys go East for 5 days we took something like 6 or 7 cases...it was way overkill.

I always wondered what would happen if I ever got stopped driving around with this..

I'm Looking forward to that and dreading it at the same time for the same reasons.
At least you only have to buy it all once and pass it down the line to the younger one.
