I've never had a guy lease out from under me, however I have invited farmers or their kids to hunt with me which then turned them into hunters and I eventually quit hunting those farms.
Here's a great story - I once had a "friend" that had access to literally thousands of acres of farm land for free. We lived about 75 miles apart and We would trade hunts occasionally when one or the other of us had stale birds/fields. We'd hunt together maybe 5 times a season.
I called him once when I had a field holding 12-1300 geese and nearly as many mallards and we put together a group of killers and butchered birds for a weekend. Epic shoot.
Next season, I went to get permission and visit with the farmer only to find out that my "friend" had been there and had gotten permission already.
Oh really.
I went home and made about 3 dozen flyers that said "WATERFOWL LEASES WANTED - PAYING TOP DOLLAR FOR ACCESS TO FARM LAND" with a bogus number to call, and then posted them in every country diner, feed store and sale barn within 10 miles of his home range. You're welcome asshole.
See, that made you way more upset, didn't it?
