I'm definitely not a fan of the "deterrent" mindset when it comes to carrying a gun for personal defense. Drawing my gun is THE LAST thing in the world I want to happen and I would do anything to avoid that including fleeing if I can but if my gun comes out of the holster it's not to scare someone.
