Chunk or Chuck?

Flightstopper's response in another thread got me thinking (slow day). Around here, we use them both, but not interchangeably. It seems to have to do with intent. I'll often say "chuck me that board", or "chuck me that remote". That seems to be when the other person actually wants what you're throwing to them. If you say "chunk", it's usually a sign that you're trying to do some damage. "There's a snake- chunk a rock at it", or "that pit bull was eyeballing me, so I chunked a hammer at it". Not sure if this is universal, or just here. Never would I say "I was trying to kill a rat, so I chucked a stick at it". Nope.

Never heard chunk used like that. If its a friendly throw I've always heard "toss" around here. If its an aggravated throw then its a "chuck".

Never heard a trunk called a truck. Now we call a pickup a truck where as other people such as DKC get offended saying that term is reserved for heavy duty trucks and 18 wheelers.
