Yep   Just when you think "I've cut 65 pieces already, I don't need to stand here and think this one through- this way is correct" is when you fuck up another piece. Guaranteed.

Have called for "arty" before and waterfowlman is absolutely correct.

Back to the stairs...I got 7 and 9/16 inches.
There's a scale on your square to figure this stuff out as well. The double division thing is the way I was taught and had to take a test on way back in high school. Keep in mind that they had JUST INVENTED the digital calculator and watch at that time.

There IS a formula written down somewhere in my carpenter book. It's pretty much what you did in your head correctly AT. Somehow Jehler got it wrong. He was only off by 1/16th an inch on a small set of stairs. Probably wouldn't get noticed.

The answer is still twelve and always will be.
Bow down to my math superiority! Respect my authoritah...
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

But you don't even need a fancy formula or calculator to do stringers. If you have your opening and rise, should be able to easily do it with a pencil and your head

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

That's what I'm saying. A pencil and a scrap piece of wood and done.

Assa won this discussion on the first reply to the thread. Why must you continue to bicker?
